Springtime is a season of renewal and refreshing your life, hence the term, “spring cleaning.” Whitening your smile can be a great way to get brighter teeth for the spring season. Brightening your smile can take years off your appearance while boosting your confidence. Professional whitening treatments can get fast and significant results all while under the supervision of your dentist, which helps to cut down issues like sensitivity. Depending on your needs, you can opt for an in-office treatment or a whitening treatment that you can do in the comfort of your own home.
Take-Home Whitening Kit
Depending on your timeline, shade goals, and budget, a take-home treatment may be a good option for your smile. The results of a take-home kit are comparable to the in-office treatment. The biggest difference is that it can typically take about two weeks to seem the results with the take-home treatment. To create the take-home kit, your dentist will create custom mouth trays to snugly to the curves of your teeth. A custom-created mouth tray allows for the gel to better penetrate the unique curvature of your smile. You will fill the trays with a professional-grade whitening gel and then wear them for approximately 30 minutes a day.
Whitening In Your Dentist’s Office
Philips Zoom!® is a popular brand of professional teeth whitening treatment. If you choose to go with an in-office treatment, your smile can get up to eight shades lighter in just a 45-minute session. If you have a big event to attend or just want to get faster results, an in-office treatment may be the option to choose. During the treatment, your dentist will first apply a peroxide-based whitening gel directly to your teeth. The gel will then be activated with a specially designed blue light, which helps the gel to break up set-in stains. One application typically will take about 15 minutes before the gel is removed; your dentist will repeat this process for a total of three applications.
