Custom-Made Replacements for Missing Teeth
Tooth loss can have devastating consequences for your self-confidence and oral health. Fortunately, our custom-crafted dental bridges can fill in the gaps in your smile, restoring your appearance and dental functionality. In addition, these restorations, made from the latest materials, can prevent further dental damage and protect your smile for years to come.
What Is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge spans the gap in your smile, replacing your missing teeth with custom-made synthetic teeth. To place a bridge, Dr. Jing or one of his associates will crown the adjacent teeth. First, he or she will reshape the teeth to create more space for the restoration. Then, your dental practitioner will take impressions, and offsite lab technicians will use this data to create a highly lifelike restoration. When it is complete, your dentist will attach the crowns, and they will hold the entire bridge in place. These restorations can be made from metal, porcelain, or porcelain-fused-to-metal. At your initial consultation, your restorative dentist will help you select the optimal material for your needs.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
Replacing your teeth with a dental bridge can have significant cosmetic and health-related advantages. First, when you are missing teeth, your surrounding teeth will automatically shift to fill in the gaps in your smile. Over time, this can lead to serious, widespread dental misalignment. In addition, you naturally want to bring your teeth into alignment, with each top tooth touching the corresponding bottom tooth. With missing teeth, this is, of course, impossible, and you may develop bruxism or TMD as a result of your unconscious attempts to realign your bite. By replacing your missing teeth with a bridge, you can prevent these serious problems, and at the same time, enhance your dental function.
Of course, bridges can also have enormous benefits for your self-confidence. Tailor-made dental bridges are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth, and therefore, they are an excellent way to enhance your appearance and self-esteem.
In addition to traditional bridges, we also proudly offer implant-supported bridges. These restorations are supported by two implant posts, and they typically offer greater stability and durability than crown-supported bridges. Nevertheless, despite their advantages, implant-supported bridges are not suitable for everyone. Dr. Jing or one of our other dentists will provide a complete consultation and help you determine whether you are a candidate for dental implants.
