Same-Day and Weekend Emergency Appointments
Excellent hygiene and consistent preventive dentistry visits are essential to keeping your smile strong and healthy for life. However, there’s no guarantee against a dental emergency, and when one strikes, quick action can be the only way to save your teeth from extensive damage. To help ensure that you receive the emergency care you need when you need it, our offices are open seven days a week. When possible, we can schedule a same-day appointment to deal with your emergency as soon as possible and reduce your risks of further oral health complications.
What Is a Dental Emergency?
A dental emergency can mean something different for everyone, but in most cases, it involves potentially serious damage to one or more teeth. For instance, a cracked, broken, or knocked-out tooth needs immediate treatment to alleviate the pain and prevent the damage from growing worse. A sudden, severe toothache, bleeding oral tissues, or a failed restoration (such as a filling or dental crown) can also be considered an emergency situation.
What to Do Before Your Appointment
When a dental emergency occurs, the most important thing to do is call your dentist as soon as possible to make an appointment. Before your appointment, though, you can temporarily alleviate discomfort and stem the damage to your tooth by taking appropriate steps. For pain relief, you can try an over-the-counter medication, or apply an ice pack to the appropriate cheek. If bleeding occurs, try biting down gently on moist, clean gauze until the bleeding stops.
